[cayugabirds-l] yard bird

2019-05-27 Thread Marty Schlabach
We had two sand hill cranes fly over today. They circled once, leading us to
believe they were going to land, but they continued flying west.

[cayugabirds-l] yard bird Ovenbird

2012-08-26 Thread Regi Teasley
I was surprised to see a rare (for us) yard bird on the patio and
surrounds, an Ovenbird.

Actually, we have seen one in the past a time or two in fall (and,
spring, if I remember correctly).

We have a woodchip path and that seems to be a draw.

We're on West Hill in the city.
I guess gardening for wildlife pays off!
We've also enjoyed an array of butterflies including Giant
Swallowtail, Painted Lady, Black Swallowtail, Spicebush Swallowtail,
Monarchs and Skippers.

All beautiful.

[cayugabirds-l] Yard bird

2012-05-24 Thread Gary Kohlenberg
I had my first ever Swainson's Thrush singing this morning from the woods in
the back yard here in Ithaca. It makes me wonder if any other new migrants will
be reported today.

Re: [cayugabirds-l] Yard bird

2012-05-24 Thread David McCartt
I found a PRAIRIE WARBLER this morning singing persistently from the old field
adjacent to our property.  I suspect it is a newly arrived migrant since I had
only heard one once about two weeks ago.  Hopefully, it will breed here as has
been the norm for the past 10+ years.
