[cayugabirds-l] Philadelphia Vireo

2016-05-13 Thread Geo Kloppel
Walking around my place during a break in the rain, I've found quite a few
actively foraging birds, including newcomers: a PHILADELPHIA VIREO and two
singing TENNESSEE WARBLERS.

[cayugabirds-l] Philadelphia Vireo

2012-08-30 Thread Suan Yong
Outside my window at Commonland the cottonwood and sycamore hosted a small
mixed flock including a PHILADELPHIA VIREO and NASHVILLE WARBLER and a couple
more flitting too quickly and dressed too confusingly to be ID'ed by my
half-asleep self. Later a strange sparrow sunned itself for a while which, best
I could conclude was a juvenile FIELD SPARROW, though it would be a bit out of
place at that spot.

Brad Walker and I just found a bright Philadelphia Vireo on the Wilson Trail at

Re: [cayugabirds-l] Philadelphia vireo - sapsucker woods

2012-05-04 Thread Brad Walker
I continued my walk after being bummed about missing the Golden-winged
Warbler and found a PHILADELPHIA VIREO from the mulched path at the
powerline cut. This was presumably a second bird, being a bit far from the
Wilson Trail. It was actively foraging in the aspen on the Lab side of the
path. Also present was a warbler flock with BLACK-THROATED BLUE, MAGNOLIA,
BLACK AND WHITE and YELLOW-RUMPED warblers.

[cayugabirds-l] Philadelphia Vireo

2010-05-21 Thread W. Larry Hymes
At 5:30 this morning, while lying in bed half-awake, I was surprised to
hear a PHILADELPHIA VIREO singing outside my window (first ever in our
yard). It's song was just as my son, Chris, described to me: like
Red-Eye, but softer, higher pitched (squeaky), and at a slower pace.
Perhaps it was a new overnight arrival that just happened to land near
my house. After this, I had a difficult time getting back to sleep.
