[cayugabirds-l] Snows and Brant

2017-10-16 Thread khmo
Mid afternoon here and we had two high Vs of Snow Geese going south and
one low altitude line of Brant heading East to West (Cayuga to Seneca?).
Have seen southbound loons follow that profile at times.

Hoping the front induced owls to move tonight. Out 15th year of
saw-whets and it has been the latest and slowest!

[cayugabirds-l] Snows Snowy

2015-04-03 Thread M Miller
Responding to earlier post - had a large flock of snow geese east of
Knox-Marsellus (Montezuma). They were in the field across the road from the
potato shed (Rte 31 west of the village of Montezuma). Also found 1 of the
snowy owls (appears to be almost pure white - male?) along Farron Rd on the
east side of the Finger Lakes airport. The wildlife drive is also open at
Montezuma (2 way traffic to the end of Benning Marsh). Many Ring-necked Ducks,
a few Redhead, Hooded Mergansers, Am. Wigeon, Shovelers, Black Ducks
Mallards. Also Osprey 1 Pied-billed Grebe. (Woodies GB Herons also at
Knox-Marsellus).

[cayugabirds-l] snows

2014-03-15 Thread Bill Mcaneny
Ten to 15 mins ago, about 2000-3000 snow geese flew over our barns going
from SE to NW, so may have been seen in Ithaca and vicin.

Only saw one blue but may well have been others. Nothing like Ross's
seen.

[cayugabirds-l] Snows/Union Springs

2012-12-01 Thread John and Fritzie Blizzard
At 2:45 p.m. from my kit. window, saw perhaps a couple doz. SNOWS heading south
but suddenly they turned eastward, perhaps going to Owasco Lake. Daughter,
Becky, has been seeing Snows from her house almost daily for the last 3 wks.
either flying north or in the cornfields.

John I were at Aurora down to the state park between noon 1 p.m.. Hazy
across the rough lake so couldn't see the west shore. Saw nothing but whitecaps
on the lake.

Lots of Canadas, mallards a nice group of Buffles snuggled in the Aurora cove.

2010-12-10 Thread Alicia Plotkin

Hi,

A flock of 35-40 snow buntings has been hanging around the
intersection of Munson Rd Hall Rd (town of Ovid) this week; and a
flock of ~200 snow geese was foraging through the stubble of a corn
field just south of Interlaken, in the bend of Rte 96, at 11:30 this
morning.
