Dear CCP4 community,

We are pleased to announce an opening in our Boston area structural biology
group for a postdoctoral scholar conducting cryo-electron microscopy and
protein crystallography research. A formal job listing is found at
https://sanofi.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/StudentPrograms/job/Waltham-MA/Postdoctoral-Fellowship--Structural-Biology_R5950-1.
Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Inquiries including a CV and
cover letter may additionally be sent to joseph.batche...@sanofi.com.

Best regards,
Joe Batchelor

A highly motivated and experienced candidate is sought to join the Structural
Biology group within Sanofi’s Integrated Drug Discovery Department. The
individual will perform structural and functional studies on targets of high
priority to our Rare Disease unit. This includes all steps from expression
construct design to structure determination of complexes with lead drugs,
including data acquisition and analysis. Despite medical significance,
published work is often sparse for our rare disease targets. We seek a
postdoctoral candidate to address this gap by structurally characterizing such
proteins and participating in drug design campaigns using cryo-EM and/or X-ray
crystallography. In addition to contributing technical proficiency, the
candidate will contribute by staying abreast of literature, implementing new
technologies, presenting results in oral and poster formats, and preparing
manuscripts for publication.
Our structural biology team works collaboratively in a multidisciplinary
department driving toward multiple breakthrough clinical candidates. The
post-doc will comprehensively engage in this community as a critical
participant in one or more high priority programs. Full infrastructure for
protein design and production, plus structural and biophysical
characterization, support efficient drug discovery research on-site. Sanofi
scientists conduct cryo-EM via a preferred access partnership at a new, fully
equipped facility at U. Mass., including Talos Arctica and Titan Krios
instruments.

Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biophysics, or
equivalent, with less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience. Proven in-depth
knowledge and expertise in cryo-EM and/or protein crystallography demonstrated
preferably through principal authorship in peer-reviewed publication(s).
Strong protein chemistry skills with extensive experience in protein
purification, cryo-EM grid optimization/protein crystal growth, and experience
with data processing and model building.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong and concise written and oral communication. Familiarity with lab
robotics and automation, as well as protein biophysical or biochemical
characterization techniques. Membrane protein research experience is desirable.
