Contrarily to what popular belief seems to be, there's no such thing as
bulletin board fairies. If you want to unsubscribe from it, you need to
follow the instructions:

the header of the ccp4 (jiscmail) emails contain the actual address you need to
send you request to:
List-Unsubscribe: mailto:ccp4bb-unsubscribe-requ...@jiscmail.ac.uk
and I suppose you don't need to thank anyone since the request will most likely
be dealt with automatically.
I had a student who unsubscribed because of too many emails.
I'll tell you what I told her: Create a filter so the emails don't show up
in your inbox and make sure that you can easily find them.
She didn't do that but her loss.
Since you have gmail here's what you need:

Dear Jules,
you can write an email to the 'unsubscribe' address listed in the
email header, usually with the word 'unsubscribe' in the email body.
You can also log into jiscmail.com and unsubscribe from there.
