[ccp4bb] Position available in New York City

2022-06-16 Thread Jeffrey B Bonanno
Hi All,

I would like to bring the following exciting opportunity in the Almo Lab at
Albert Einstein College of Medicine to your attention:

We seek a post doctoral fellow with interest in the development of novel
biologics for the treatment of infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases and
cancers. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in mammalian
protein expression, and protein design and/or protein chemistry. We have
established a highly modular platform technology for the antigen-selective
targeting of T cells, which affords the unique opportunity to expand and
activate, or delete, specific disease-relevant T cell populations without
global impact on the T cell repertoire. A variant of this biologic platform is
currently the subject of a multi-arm clinical trial for HPV-driven head and
neck cancer and an IND has recently been approved to evaluate efficacy against
Wilms' tumors. The Initial focus of the current program is on the use of these
biologics as monotherapies, and for the development of novel CAR T cell
approaches, for the eradication of HIV and CMV infections and the treatment of
malignancies. Interested candidates should send a CV, including the names of at
least two references to steve.almoeinsteinmed.edu.

Thanks,
Jeff

[ccp4bb] Position available: Scientist time-resolved crystallography

2020-12-17 Thread Thomas Ursby

Dear all,

We have an open 2-year's position for a scientist to develop
time-resolved activities at the new MicroMAX beamline at the MAX IV
Laboratory (https://www.maxiv.lu.se/).

_Closing date for applications is Sunday January 17th._

For more information and to apply see:
https://lu.varbi.com/en/what:job/jobID:371045
or contact me at thomas.ur...@maxiv.lu.se

/MAX IV Laboratory has received funding from the Novo Nordisk Foundation
(http:// novonordiskfonden.dk/en) for a new beamline called MicroMAX, a
micro-focus macromolecular crystallography beamline. The Macromolecular
Crystallography (MX) Group is responsible for the design, construction
and future operation of the MicroMAX beamline, as well as for the BioMAX
beamline that is in user operation.//

//
//MicroMAX will extend the possibilities in macromolecular
crystallography in particular in the areas of serial crystallography and
time-resolved crystallography. By exploiting the pioneering performance
of the MAX IV 3-GeV storage ring, MicroMAX will provide world class
performance for experiments requiring a highly brilliant microfocus
X-ray beam. The microfocus beam will be used for highly automated,
monochromatic rotation crystallography, but the unique beam will be in
particular beneficial for time-resolved experiments and serial
crystallography. The time-resolved activity will use a UV-vis-IR laser
setup for triggering of light sensitive samples or using
caged-compounds, ligand-mixing using microfluidics, and other methods
and instrumentation to study dynamics. The sample environment laboratory
and a second experiment hutch are available to support and extend the
capabilities of the time-resolved setup in the first experiment hutch.
We have started developing activities in the field of serial
crystallography and regularly perform experiments at BioMAX./

Best wishes,
Thomas Ursby

Hello all,

I would appreciate it if you could distribute this flier to potential
applicants.

Thank you,

Mark Walter

Post-doctoral position: Structural Biology of Cytokine-Receptor
Signaling

A Post-doctoral position is available immediately to study the structure
and function of cytokine receptor complexes that play essential roles in
the development and control of the adaptive immune response. The
inter-cellular communication provided by these molecules is controlled
by a dazzling array of protein-protein interactions that our lab is
unraveling. We also study the structure and function of virally encoded
proteins produced by herpes and poxviruses that target the IL-10 family
and allow the viruses to escape elimination by the immune system.
Understanding the competing molecular strategies used by the host and
virus to activate or deactivate the immune system may to lead novel ways
of controlling chronic inflammation and/or improving the detection and
elimination of persistent viral infections. The lab performs the
techniques required to answer mechanistic questions about molecular
recognition, viral immune evasion, and cell signaling including protein
biochemistry, X-ray crystallography, surface plasmon resonance,
isothermal titration calorimetry, computational and bioinformatic
approaches, and structure-based functional assays in cells.

Applicants are expected to be proficient in molecular
biology, protein expression (multiple systems is a benefit), and protein
purification methodologies. Experience in X-ray crystallography, or
other structural or biophysical science (e.g. NMR, SAXS, etc), is a
plus. Interested applicants should send a CV, statement of research
interests, and list of references to:

[ccp4bb] Position available in Frankfurt

2009-06-01 Thread Tatsuya KAMINISHI

A PhD and a Postdoctoral position are immediately available
in the Ribosome Crystallography Group led by Prof. Dr. Paola Fucini,
in the Cluster of Excellence for Macromolecular Complexes and Johann
Wolfgang Goethe University.

The candidates will participate in the ongoing research of the group,
which aims to elucidate the role played by the ribosome and ancillary
factors in regulating the translational apparatus. Working in a
multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment, the
candidates will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art research
facilities and techniques in Molecular Biology, Protein Chemistry, X-
ray Crystallography, Cryo electron microscopy and Nuclear Magnetic
Resonance.

The main aim of the research projects will be the investigation of the
structure and biological function of macromolecular complexes composed
by the ribosome, nascent chain, translational factors, chaperones or
antibiotics. The final goal of the research is to further our
understanding in the vital process of the translation of the genetic
code into functional proteins and its regulation by natural factors or
de-novo designed translational inhibitors.

The successful candidates (in particular for the postdoctoral
position) should have a strong interest – and possibly experience -
in the field of Structural Biology and have demonstrated the ability
to conduct high quality research.
Prospective PhD students should have an undergraduate degree in
related field and possess good laboratory skills.

Applicants should send a brief letter of motivation, curriculum vitae,
statement of research accomplishments and interests, and the names of
three referees, preferably by e-mail to
