have some online meetings for a software project. In Bios the I/O-settings for
camera and microphone are enabled. Camera is working (tested with cheese).

Cualquiera de los dos enlaces es lo mismo.
El error que te da puede deberse a que no bajaste un rpm sino algún otro tipo
de archivo. Con
file centos-release* podrás ver si fue un rpm o no el archivo que intentas
instalar.

http://mirror.cedia.org.ec bájale precisamente el de centos-6 para tu
arquitectura (con uname -a le puedes ver la arquitectura si de 32 o 64)
Una vez bajado le instalas con rpm -Uvh centos-release*

Bueno mas facil imposible. Lo que tienes que hacer es montar un disco para
que automaticamente el sistema se levante, no existe otra forma. El
problema me imagino que no dispones del disco.
