It gets as far as telling me:

It doesn't ask if its ok. But
if I type yenter it reports:
Is this ok [y/N]: Downloading Packages:
Then it does nothing. I can't kill it
with CRTL-C, but I killed the yum process
with kill -9 from another window.

tried deleting
tried deleting /var/lib/rpm/__* after killing all yum processes?
Yum has command line options to do its housecleaning which I would
try first.
yum help clean
What does deleting the __db files do that the yum clean all doesn't?
(which I notice doesn't delete those specific files)
