OK, at the risk of exposing my woeful lack of knowledge about database
connectivity here, _irrespective_ of whether you create an ODBC Socket
connection to Oracle or create an other connection which uses the
oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver class, the String Format option doesn't
appear under the Advanced Settings section.
because that bit's from cf (which knows you have standard no jdbc oracle
driver it knows about). if you need that
