I know how to back up datasources in CF5, and I understand the
datasources are stored somewhere else in CFMX. Is there a way to
migrate CF5 datasources into CFMX?

When you install CFMX on the same machine and choose the upgrade option,
then during the post-install migration
Well, that would work if it were the same server. I'm installing on a
new machine. Seems like the long way around to install CF5 and then
upgrade for the sake of using the migration-wizard to copy the
datasources. I may have to do that though.

can uninstall the 'upgrade' and I can find another reason to use

Well, that would work if it were the same server
and not disturb your 'real' web server.

Ah, that sounds interesting. I didn't want to break anything, and
wanted to leave the CF5 running on the old server. Just setting up a
new one with CFMX that I want to roll-out in place of the CF5 if all
looks good
This is totally weird. But what seems to be happening is that if an ODBC Error is generated by one page anywhere on my server, any other ODBC calls will generate the error messagefor that first page that caused the error.Yesterday it crashed the server. However, once I run the page that caused the

Yes, I believe what you are saying is correct.I generate an ODBC Error on one page (call it test.cfm), then I call another page (page2.cfm) that has an ODBC call on it, the query from test.cfm will appear with the error message on Page2.cfm.To fix the problem, if I remove the query from test.cfm
Is there anyway to use the the datasource instead of the dbname to join two
datasources in cfquery?
thanks,
John

The tables in a datasource are stored in the registry?

Yes. You can use CFREGISTRY to read the HKLM\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI key. If
you want native data sources, you can read the appropriate CF registry key.
Also, given a datasource, is there a way to get

Have you tested it on other workstations? Make sure it's server side, and
not a workstation Java Applets problem.

Have you installed ablecommerce?
Not sure why but that has a habit of hiding previous datasources, but they
still exist and CF can access them, you just cant see them on CF
