Does the host name you are hitting the server with have a domain
(www.xyz.com), or is it simple (localhost)? I don't think it sets
cfmagic if there is no domain.

Yes, it's a .uk.com domain name so it should be fine... I have JSESSIONID,
CFID and CFTOKEN being set but no CFMAGIC... Its weird...
The last time I did this was in 2001 on a CF 5, 4 box load balanced cluster

You should never need to mess with the CFMagic cookie. This is just
something that is used for migrating host-based cookies to domain cookies
(in cf 4.5) and should happen all by itself.

I don't want to mess with it, I just want it to be set... It's a real PITA
that it isn't being set when I need it to be...

They are 100% correct; there is no CFMAGIC cookie in ColdFusion MX
This logic does NOT exist in ColdFusion MX. The reason this was added was
to facilitate existing applications wanting to add load balancing to
existing
applications. It did not get implemented in the Java MX rewrite.
You will not be able to get a CFMX server to set it.
So the big question
So the big question is...
Why is it still documented with no note as to it being deprecated?
