The 9i client will work fine with 8i databases.
We had some problems upgrading the client from 8 to 9 on some Windows
boxes, basically the installer doesn't do a great job of updating the
registry and environment for client apps. For example Toad couldn't get
to the DB's. 9i client install on a fresh machine was fine.

We didn't have any problems with client upgrades on Solaris.

Subject: Upgrading Oracle

We're getting ready to upgrade our production environment form Oracle
8.0.6 to Oracle 9.0.2. From a CF standpoint, what pitfalls should I
watch out for? I assume that I should upgrade the Oracle client on each
of the servers to version 9 first. Will it work okay with Oracle 8?
Anything else?
