I've been very happy with Analog. Free and fast. Ditto. Add in a little Report Magic for prettier graphs and clients have been very happy. Also, it's pretty easy to automate so that clients can generate their own reports on-demand. http://www.reportmagic.com/ Ken

My dad used to do some computer programming in ancient days when they had analog computers. I can't wait to hear what my 7 year-old son will be saying about my webdev work a couple of decades from now. :) Ken ~~ Get the mailserver that powers

Picking up a copy of one of the many ColdFusion development books would be a great first step and would get you on your way real fast. Bookpool http://www.bookpool.com tends to have the best prices from what I've seen but all the major book sites offer a range of CF books. Ken -Original

Yeah, probably wasn't fair to use that example without explaining the background. Are you aware of any drawbacks to using this rather than the default method? Seems like it should be setup that way by default or at least should be configurable via the CFAdmin given the ease of guessing the other

I'm not sure why it's not the default, either; my guess is backward-compatibility. That would make sense. I've heard mention of needing to increase the DB field size to accomodate the extended length. I've always found (v4.5+ at least) that CF created fields of proper size even before making

If I recall correctly, you can't directly access cfhttp.filecontent at Intermedia due to their security setup. Seems like the solution was to write the data to disk first and then immediately read it...if you can stand the performance hit. However, its been awhile since I messed with it there.

Finally, I'd like to point out that many kinds of "what if" questions, commonly asked on the list, are best answered with five minutes of testing. Perhaps Allaire could also take this approach when writing their docs? :) From the current v4.5.1 Online Docs regarding Cache Settings in CF
