OK, here's the info on the timeline for CF certs:

First, I got the grandfathering thing wrong, in that what they'd been calling
grandfathering was when they went from the CF4.5 to the CF5 test, the differences in
the tests were small, so they automatically reclassified any CF4.5 certs as CF5
certified. That's what they meant by grandfathering. Now that I have that correction
out of the way, here's the other details as provided to me by my certs contact:

The ColdFusion MX test (in English) will be made available to the public through
www.vue.com/macromedia on September 30th, 2002. CFMX Certification will come out in
French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese one month later.

People who are certified as ColdFusion 5 Developers will remain certified as such
until December 31st, 2003. At that time, CF 5 certifications will no longer be listed
on the Macromedia website at:
http://www.macromedia.com/v1/handlers/index.cfm?Id=19865&method=full

The ColdFusion 5 Developer certification exam will be available from www.vue.com for 3
months after the CFMX exam is made available to the public, but then retired - so
there's a 3 month overlap where you can take either exam.
