NORTHERN DISTRICT POLICE OFFICERS CONFIRM THAT AN ORGANIZED COMMUNITY WALK WITH TRAINED WALKERS AND POLICE PRESENCE INCREASES VISIBILITY AND TRANSLATES INTO SAFER STREETS. WALKERS ARE TRAINED TO SPOT, OBSERVE, REPORT, AND RECORD, AND NOT TO CONFRONT PERSONS a. Neighborhood Walkers on Patrol Training: Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 6‑7:15 p.m. at 2434 St. Paul Street. Officers Doug Gibson and Bill O'Donnell will conduct trainings on how to be an effective neighborhood patrol participant or leader. New walkers and veteran walkers invited. Instructions on joining an existing walk or starting a new walk. If you are interested in Walker Training but would prefer a daytime or weekend training let us know. b. Neighborhood Walkers expanding to Harwood: If you live in Harwood and would like to participate please contact ama...@harwoodbaltimore.com or sha...@charlesvillage.org and plan to attend the February training. c. Neighborhood Walkers expanding in Old Goucher: Enough people have expressed an interest in starting an early morning walk or run between 5 am and 8 am Thursday through Saturday. If you would like to participate contact me and plan to attend the February training. d. CURRENT WALK SCHEDULE: 1. Charles Village West: Every Thursday at 7:30 PM, starting at 27th and Howard in front of Meet 27 2. Old Goucher Anti-Prostitution Walk: 2nd and 4th SATURDAY at 11:50 p.m., starting at 2434 St. Paul St. 3. Charles Village Central: 1st Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm , starting at 26th and Charles Sts. 4. Abell Walk: 2nd and 4th Thursday at 8:30 p.m., starting at Abell Open Space between Guilford and Abell on 32nd St. e. The next Northern District Community Council will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Northern District Headquarters on Cold Spring Lane just west of the Jones Falls Expressway.
