Larry,
It's sounding like maybe the accelerator pump is putting too much
of a shot into the carb when you step on it. If it runs fine above
that RPM range and you think the main jetting is fine, then see if
you can reduce the amount the acc pump puts out. I don't have one of

Never heard of that guide, and never heard of setting timing in drive. When you set initial timing with the distributor hooked up, it won't make any difference what gear the transmission is in. It is a simple relationship of the firing mark for the #1 cylinder to top dead center of #1 cylinder.
Well, the guide looks good for the most part, but honestly, try this test with the vacuum advance disconnected and plugged... Set your initial timing (around 12* BTDC) with the car in park or neutral. Then have someone sit in the car hold the brake and put it in gear, and check the timing again.

Brian is correct. I had this same problem on my
RJ,
Double check the wiring on the ignition solenoid, if it is stuck or mis-wired, it can energize the starter when ignition power is applied.

It sounds like there is a 12v ignition source connected to the spot on the solenoid there the ignition only 12v source should be... time to get out the test light and trace those down.

Forgot who was asking about different gun laws from state-to-state, but
I had looked into this before and found this:
http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/FederalGunLaws.aspx?ID=59
The laws are pretty standard for just carrying a weapon in your car,
but they get sticky if you want to carry concealed.
Did you guys notice that on one of the pictures there were some rear
quarters for a '68 or '69 chevelle? He's not lurking on the list is he?

no fun POS. I'm just about convinced that there's nothing worth owning from GM after about '72. Although I do love my '94 Z-71 but still angry about the Impala. Damned angry.

, is anyone familiar with the VP fuel used by dirt
trackers? There's a track nearby and most certainly should have it for
sale.
Thanks!

Are you talking about a true ding strip that is made of rubber and stands out? I know that in '69 there was a striping option that looks like a ding strip.
