As for the glass The 64's had a cast metal frame where as the 65's had sheet

in a 65 El Camino with TH700R4 OD transmissions. The 64 had new body mount
bushings and the Elky were not... But BOTH needed a small whack with a dead
blow hammer at the Servo area.

A bound up oil pump is unusual for sure and Mr. Z-16's hydro lifter spring
is one of those never say never deals. I think I would if you don't have (
you'll need it if you install a new pump anyway) oil pump pre oiling tool...
I would drop it ion and with my drill rotate it and watch the oil
It should be Snug fit. I use a flare nut wrench or box wrench as a tool to
SEAT the tubes expanded seal lip to the block surface. I personally never
liked the RTV as a leak preventer on A dipstick tube. Why because dropping
a set of headers with a stuck dip-stick tube , makes for a frustrating

the wrench?
Yup.. you got IT . You insert the tube into the wrench and slid the wrench
down till it hits the expanded seat/seal. You then use your weapon of choice
to TAP.. read TAP the WRENCH to seat the filler

but the bench seat I took out of my 65 El-Camino
now resides in a 66 buick skylark conv.
And I know for a fact seats from other GM same type
models Buick.Pont,Olds skylark,cutless Mont Carlo fit my later model
El-Camino. These are 78 to 87 years.

relationship of the transmission output shaft and. rear pinion yoke

To the Frames body mount at rear and
transmission cross member mounting holes. Both frames
areBoxed one conv the other an Elky
Mitch , My read is Ballanced Rotating Assy.
most 383 Strokers are externally balanced. With that said.
IMO the $$$'s for crank/rods/pistions/flexplate/dampner
and rings. = Balanced rotating assembly

under chassis from the rear. You tend to view the center line of the rear by the
bolts on the rear cover. Center top and bottom on a 10 bolt and between
the spaced top and bottom center bolt heads on a 12
bolt.

But from a birds eye view, looking down the Centerline of the transmission to
the yoke then to the rear end yoke. and from my limited knowledge a 10 and 12
bolt rear rear end pinion/yoke is centered in the housing,( I just

cinder or concreat blocks for support of cars PERIOUD. I have seen 16in
solid blocks break , It had a Jack stand on top of it. The fellow was yanking a
rear and these were on the 4 frame corners. Only one broke down and he was not
