at it, this is the bare minimum for an egg
author to do - no matter how we install eggs. A portage-like system
doesn't add to this bare minimum - it just arranges things differently
(hopefully, in an easier to use manner than we have now).

/zmq/patches , and then also in
global_tree/networking/zmq/patches (so you can avoid needlessly
duplicating some patches from the global tree that you might still be
using). Or we can just use the patches/ dir from the tree we're using,
if that makes things clearer.

we're going to make about the host system is
that we have the base chicken-scheme distribution already installed
and available. So our archive format is something which we can easily
unpack just using the tools the base distribution provides.

impossible, with the current setup) and easily manageable.
