Afghanistan, Mexico or Colombia - US Military goes where the drugs are . Two items that connect several dots: South American leaders at a regional summit have expressed fresh concerns over Colombian plans to grant American troops access to its military bases. But at the gathering in Ecuador, they rejected a proposal to formally condemn the proposals, which would allow US access up to seven Colombian bases. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warned that "the winds of war were beginning to blow" across the region http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8194497.stm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/23/us/23border.html The Mexican cartels are now turning into full-scale mafias across Mexico. No new commercial real estate sales across mexico, now means the cartels are even financing big wineries, taking over legitimate industries and corporations all across the nation. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/23/us/23border.html The drug cartels have morphed into running the country, running extortion and business protection rackets and trafficking everything that happens in Mexico. Some drug revenues are down, but citizen extorison is up. Protection money is being paid in many big and small villages. The more monies America feeds to the Calderon drug cause, the more terrorist training the Mexican Army and the cartels employees get, and the more the Mexican Army gets their hands into the act of protecting certain larger cartels. Even the news reports are distorted, and many newspapers are shutting down, and honest news journalists are fleeing to the US to ask for asylum. These and other shocking stories are news coming in daily to world-wide news agencies across Europe; but here in America, the Border Patrol, the US Nation Guard, and White House have things totally under control......almost! I guess building a big fence and throwing money at an unresolved problem is not the answer.
