There were only a few settings in the bios to set the sound and I tried them all and didn't make a difference. One setting to enable or disable dvi audio; one to turn HD audio on/off; one to set the HD audio to HDMI or AC97. I'm not familiar with what settings to use in Linux except pulse audio

Well, then you are out of luck, get a newer kernel ... since you didn't say what kernel you where trying to run, or find a driver and compile it against your kernel. you will need to install the devel / header packages for your kernel to make the compiling work. or do as my friend on the list

Hi Joe, After searching online a while for your problems solution I could so far only find reference to getting into BIOS by F1 or DEL buttons on boot. Multiple references to this fan speed sound card issues (for your M/B) did not say anything about Linux settings even though settings solved most

Motherboard: Asus Prime b250-plus CPU: Intel i3-7100 Bunsenlabs I am having some problems with sound. The kernel driver is snd_hda_intel The sound is very low. Even on maximum it is hardly loud enough. Is there a better driver that I can install? Joe
