There’s also something to be said for the Unix pipeline/filter model of
processing. That way of breaking down a task into small steps, wiring little
programs to filter the data for each step, building up the solution
iteratively, essentially a form of function composition. Immedidately, you can

I'll also point out that the Diebolt-o-tron is used for all sorts of
code4lib voting. Usually there are many options, as with conference
proposals and t-shirt design. I will grant that weighted voting may
seem a bit over-flexible when there are only two options, but it works
quite well as a

It has to mean UTF-8. ISO 2709 is very byte-oriented, from the directory
structure to the byte-offsets in the fixed fields. The values in these places
all assume 8-bit character data, it's completely baked in to the file format.

a fork of Sybase, and they share Transact SQL. So most of the Sybase
