This was discussed a little on the list before, but I REALLY liked the quikwriting idea ( http://mrl.nyu.edu/~perlin/demos/quikwriting.html ). It seems to me this would be the best way to go for finger input... I believe there is a project open for it...though it doesnt seem very active.
