I tested openTTD in last summer on my Debian freerunner. Then it needs one-mouse-button-patch, but I think it is now merged to official. (somewhere in options-menu). Game was playable, when TransportTycoon deluxe was released all monitors are 640x480. Network-multiplaying works. Sound effects

I don't know exactly where the startup logs are...dmesg and logread are helpful at times. But, what you observed happened to me once with Om2008.8 when I changed my feed to testing and upgraded. It gave lots of warning about gtk+ trying to overwrite files installed using gtk-fastscaling

And now i got the kernel from today running and it seems to work. does suspending by holding pwr for about 4 secs still work? i tried a kernel+module-tarball about two weeks ago and at least suspending that way stopped to work -- so i switched back to the installation kernel+modules.
