I know its not the simms as I tried it without them in and had the same
problem.
The board was pulled several times and I reseated the rom chips.
I have no other explaination for why it started working again after
this process.
As for static damage, we are talking about an apparently dead

Nahh. The Classic was offered as an either-or, too.

Have bought an SE (not an SE 30)and thought it had a hard drive in it.
Did these units actually come with a HD or were they an optional extra???
Thanks,

Oh, people, do come on! I
I am considering talking to my employer about setting up a FTP site.
Not sure it will be allowed, but at the current we have no plans for
work related FTP. I have a bunch of Quarda's I could use a as a server,
as well as a bunch of WinTel box's with NT.
Will let you know how that proceeds.
I've been told that I can use an init string to slow
down my Supra 28.8 modem to 14.4 so I can use the
internet on my Classic. So far... I've searched for
about an hour... and I still haven't fond that init
string... does anyone know how to get it???

They bargain back and forth until a connect speed is attained that is
acceptable.

Either way, on a Classic he'll still need some sort of init string or
the thing won't work no matter what the speed.
When I use MacPPP and MacTCP on my classic Macs to connect to internet I
never get involved with init strings.
Of course with Open Transport, but that won't run on 68000.
In the PPP CP set the port speed to 14.4
Are you using Flow Control? I have been told this can cause problems if not
set correctly (dunno if this is true, its just what ISP Techs have told me).

Hi, folks.
As I promised yesterday, I've set up a FTP server in my machine so we can
share easily files with the rest of the list. You can reach it using the
following link:

Or, if you are using an FTP client that requires you to enter host and port
Hello,
I have just been reading for some time now.
I want to get rid of some Apple stuff.
(I can not throw anything away)
Question:
Where are the rules of engagement (for this list)
that I was supposed to read at the beginning?

Thanks in advance.

I tried it last night and I don't believe I was able to get directly to the
