Actually, as of the Feb. 2009 transition, only 2 Washington, DC
stations, 7.1 and 9.1, will broadcast on VHF as digital signals.
Channels 4, 5, 7, and 9 will go still away along with the rest of analog
channels. The rest of the DC digital lineup will still be UHF.

I would start by looking at Windows Task Manager while in a normal
startup mode and see if anything is using too much CPU power. Also, are
you getting any error codes when it freezes?

soon as any activity

Installed using the stand alone installer, worked fine, no problems. Only
issue I've heard is that it is not a good idea to create a slipstreamed xp
installer with sp 3 on a vista box. Other then that...no issues.

in the Preferences option does not show up in Adobe Photoshop Starter

Agreed, upconverting really does make a difference. I use an
upconverting DVD player and while it doesn't look as perfect as 1080i,
it is still quite impressive. It certainly looks a whole lot better than
some of the 720 stuff that is being broadcast as HDTV.
