Would it be feasible to achieve VLAN functionality to MNF by compiling a
custom kernel using Mandrake's kernel tools? In other words, would that
completely break the web interface, or perhaps something else?
I hope support for VLANs is something Mandrake are considering to add in
future versions.

An hd.img of the current Cooker should install fine, although sometimes
some RPMs may not exist, and from time to time the Cooker installer
itself is out of order. None of these appear to apply to your complaint.

I can't seem to be able to get this driver to work for the on-board NIC.
I've tried newer kernel source 2.4.20, etc.,

of them do absolutely nothing. So I switched to using gnome-alsamixer.
