Lately I've been doing this... cdrecord -v speed=8 dev=0,2,0 -dao driveropts=burnfree /home/allen/play/MandrakeLinux-9.0rc2-CD3.i586.iso This seems to have made CD1 very reliable. EXCEPT that I encounter the same problems you do when trying to install into VMWare under main OS WinXP. Maybe
