[COOT] Default B-factor for new residues

2015-05-16 Thread Oliver Clarke
Hi all,

Just a suggestion - currently Coot sets the B-factor of newly added residues to
a fixed value, I think defaulting to 30 (although of course the default can be
changed).

Would it be possible at some point to introduce an option such that rather than
defaulting to a fixed B-factor, new residues inherit the average b-factor of
the nearest residue, or the residue to which they are connected?

This would be convenient when building more mobile regions of a molecule, and
generally it seems like a better idea than adding in a residue at a completely
different B-factor from its surroundings.

Cheers,
Oliver.

Also, on the same topic - the default B-factor for new atoms only seems to
apply to add terminal residue... when a new sidechain is added, it defaults to
a B-factor of 20.

I think the same parameter should probably apply in both instances?
