Highlands Group: "Who We Serve"

"Clients include corporations, think tanks, media, government agencies,
foundations, and service providers. We have extensive experience helping
government agencies and leading-edge companies make critical transformations in
strategy, policy, brands, and business models. The Highlands Group usually
works with a small set of clients, which is a measure of our commitment to each
organizations situation. Our work is individually tailored to each client's
culture and capabilities.

An example of our services can be found in The Highlands Forum, sponsored by
the Office of the Secretary of Defense. We coordinate and direct The Highlands
Forum on behalf of the Chief Information Officer of the Department of Defense.
The Forum is a nationally recognized "idea engine" composed of leaders from
industry, academia, government, the arts and the professions who share a lively
interest in ideas beyond their fields. Themes and ideas emerging from Forum
meetings have been useful in supporting high-level government policy and
strategy development, particularly focusing on information and information
technologies and their impact on international relations, economics, and
security. Begun in February, 1995, several meetings have been held each year
bringing together exceptional thinkers in a cross-disciplinary process on a
variety of leading edge topics. Some of the topics discussed
include: "Protection of Critical Infrastructures"; "Considerations for a
National Information Policy"; "The Mind, the Brain, and Computing"; "Ubiquitous
Microsensors and Networks"; "The Convergence of Information Technology and
Biotechnology"; and "Innovation and Complex Organizations". Over 400 people
have participated in Highlands Forum discussions.

We work closely with clients at every step, encouraging them to participate
fully in the development of new ideas and strategies. Here is a representative
sampling of the organizations we have supported: "
