In fact, this task is not new at all.... As presented by Cees Wiebes on the
NISA conference on the importance of SIGINT after the cold war (in Amsterdam
last year), Dutch intelligence agencies (not necessarily the BVD, I can't
remember off-hand) have been involved in regular economic espionage for
Dutch industry for decades. This was done under orders of the Ministry
of Internal Affairs, who would receive the relevant information.
