Racism didn’t <I>cause</I> slavery, industrial fascism, the <I>economic</I> utility of slaves caused slavery, in ancient Sumer as in colonial Georgia. In fact <I>industrial fascism</I> can be defined as <I>the coercive use of people as industrial machinery</I>. This enabled the Nazis to maintain actual ownership - and operatives in key U.S. defense installations.</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>26</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3> </P> <P>Allen Dulles was the Schroeder representative in Germany before the war. Since he had extensive contacts in the German business community, and the cover of actually working for them, he was tapped to establish the Office of Strategic Services base in neutral Switzerland in 1942, making it through the border literally on the last train before the Germans sealed it. He executed some spectacular German infiltrations, intelligence coups and surrenders, dealing with anonymous moles as well as the likes of Himmler, Canaris and Gehlen. It was great cover. In 1955, at the invitation of Vice-President Nixon, he led the opening prayer for the U.S. Senate. This is a man who literally skinned "kike" children alive. </P> <P>In 1952, the CIA uncovered proof of a $100,000 bribe to Nixon from an Iron Guard operative, Nicolae Malaxa, who had been in business with Hermann Goring’s brother during the war.</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>95</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3> Viorel Trifa was stripped of his U.S. citizenship in 1984 and deported to Portugal, where he proceeded to go to work for Horia Sima, the Iron Guard’s man in Madrid, and for Chirila Ciuntu, who, like Sima, did SS dirty work on the Russian front. Ciuntu was another Iron Guard delegate to the WACL conferences, the business of which was to turn the WACL into an efficient global trade organization that financed political assassinations and arms transfers with dope.<FONT face=Palatino size=3></P> <P>One of the WACL’s superstars, Col. Arana, the Butcher of Zacapa, was handed the presidency of Guatemala in 1970. He named his death-squad organizer, Sandoval, president of the National Congress. "People ask if the death squads are controlled by the Army. They are the Army."</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>96</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3> <FONT face=Palatino size=3></P> <P>Throughout the 80’s the Guatemalan economy relied on exports which included marijuana, coca, opium,</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>97</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3> coffee, tea, bananas, cotton, cardamom, meat and sugar. The legal crops were grown mostly in large-scale operations originally financed by AID and setup by a consortium of U.S. agribusiness companies organized by the Bank of <FONT face=Palatino size=3>America, sort of cooperating United Fruits. All were possessed of a deep interest in cheap labor and all were vulnerable to fluctuating world commodity prices.</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>98</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3> Also important were the new <I>maquiladora</I> ("final-touch") manufacturing plants, so dear to Reaganauts, which simply reassembled imported components for export. These plants too were mostly controlled by foreign capital. </P> <P align=justify>The result of this top-down investment was that basic commodities such as wheat, and even the ancient Mayan staple corn, had to be imported, as peasant smallholdings, the most productive land in the country, continued to be expropriated by the Army. As late as 1976, 50% of peasant income came from the cultivation of smallholdings; by 1988 that had dropped to 25%. The campesinos were forced into the cash economy - as wages remained at subsistence level and unemployment soared.</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>99</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3> Only one-third of the work force was fully employed year-round. By 1979, urban workers were earning 74% of their 1970 real wages, and rural workers were earning 54%.</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>100</P> <P></FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3></P> <P>85% of Guatemalans were living below the poverty line.</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>101</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3> Since children continued to go hungry and without medical care, the economic pressure for unionization and land reform remained, as did the rationale for the death squads. The scorched earth policy of the 1980’s saw the destruction of 440 highland villages, many by napalm bombing, and the killing of over 100,000 civilians.</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=1>102</FONT><FONT face=Palatino size=3> Thousands of Indians took up arms.</P></FONT></FONT></FONT></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Palatino size=3> <P align=justify>.... The Turkish publicity hit the fan on November 3, 1996, when a Mercedes Benz crashed in the Susurluk neighborhood of Ankara. The driver was Huseyin Kocadag, former Istanbul deputy police chief and CIA organizer of special counterinsurgency teams aimed at the PKK. The popular rebellion of Turkey’s 15 million Kurds, led by the Partiya Karkeran Kurdistan, the Kurdish Workers Party, has drawn the CIA into yet another dirty war. </P> <P>The death of the glamorous Gonca Us, the hood-connected beauty queen, in the Susurluk crash only served to advertise it further. Seriously injured was the Kurdish turncoat Sedat Bucak, Village Guard chieftain and True Path Party (DYP) parliamentarian. But it was the presence of Abdullah Catli in the Mercedes that made the heroin connection. Catli was a founder of the Grey Wolves, the street fighting arm of the fascist National Action Party (MHP). Since 1978 he has <FONT face=Palatino size=3>been wanted for mass murder and international drug smuggling. What was this famous international terrorist doing riding in a car with the most powerful police officials in Turkey?</P> <P align=justify>And why was Catli holding a license to carry arms and a Green Passport reserved for senior Ministry officials, both signed by Interior Minister Mehmet Agar? Agar was the most powerful security official in Turkey, head of the 120,000-strong police and counterinsurgency force financed and trained by the CIA. </P> <P align=justify>When Abdullah Catli entered Miami in 1982 under a previous Green Passport, he was accompanied by none other than Stefano delle Chiaie, one of Klaus Barbie’s key CIA Cocaine Coup engineers, a Gehlen operative. The great heroin and cocaine smuggler Abdullah Catli had been taking orders from the most powerful security official in Turkey, as had Catli’s senior Gray Wolf henchmen, also issued documents signed by Agar. </P> <P align=justify>Deputy Prime Minister Tansu Ciller, the DYP "woman minister" Judge Schwalbe referred to, was forced to accept Agar’s resignation. But she insisted that "those who have fired bullets as well as those who have been shot in the name of the state are honest." </P> <P align=justify>Judge Schwalbe’s investigation, however, confirmed the opposite. The CIA-founded and financed Turkish security apparatus had used Turkey’s fascist hoods in a no-holds-barred street fight for control of the vast Golden Crescent heroin trade, a financial key, as Richard Helms and his experienced dope-dealing team well understood, to military power in Turkey. </P> <P>The Gray Wolves, founded in the late 70’s with the help of that team, the Shah’s team, were a covert part of Turkey’s security apparatus. Immediately on their founding they joined the CIA’s Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations and World Anti-Communist League, targeting not only the nascent PKK, but liberal journalists and politicians throughout Turkey.
