A Thought on Leadership and Polls After 9/11

By : Mike Hersh - 01/05/02

On 9/13 -- two days after the terrorist attacks -- George Walker Bush addressed the
nation. That Thursday night, only ABC showed Bush. Can ANYONE tell me why -- if Bush
is so popular -- most Americans watched Friends, Survivor, or a cartoon called "Family
Guy" instead of looking to Bush for leadership?

Clearly the polls are reading something other than approval for Bush. If 90% or 80%
or 40% thought Bush was any kind of leader, he would have won his time slot 9/13--He
came in FOURTH!
