On July 3, 2000, I, Ted Gunderson, heard from Pam Purdie, girlfriend of Russell (Rusty) Nelson that Rusty Nelson had called her this morning (July 3, 2000) and told her that he has been moved from his cell with a five-foot bed to a cell with an eight-foot bed; that his meals are much better, they are no longer feeding him green meat; that they are providing him with his proper medications on schedule, which they had not done before; and that the attitudes of the guards have changed considerably and they are treating him more decently. Pam Purdie indicated that they are still not allowing Russell Nelson writing materials and some black guards are knocking on the door and sarcastically stating; "This is Larry King, I'm coming for you" (Recall Larry King, founder of the Franklin Credit Union, now incarcerated, is a black man). On July 2, 2000, Noreen Gosch, mother of kidnapped child Johnny Gosch, a victim in the Franklin case, drove from Des Moines, Iowa, to Omaha, Nebraska, and hand-carried and delivered to the Sheriff's office where Rusty Nelson is being held; 1.) My 53 page report of June 28, 2000, about the current danger to Russell Nelson, and 2.) a copy of my formal complaint to the White House requesting a civil rights investigation of the maltreatment of Rusty Nelson in Omaha where he is being held, particularly about not furnishing his proper medication on schedule for his epilepsy. Pam Purdie reports that things changed for the better immediately upon receipt of these reports. Rusty Nelson told Pam Purdie on the phone this morning that he could not understand the drastic change for the better in his treatment until she told him that Noreen Gosch had hand-delivered these reports to the Sheriff's office. This information and these encouraging events illustrate that we can effect positive change when we join forces and shed light on the truth. Abraham Lincoln said, "The only way to lose is to quit". We have no intentions of quiting. We stand together to stop the miscarriage of justice against victims of abuse and corruption. Please refer to the list of people at the end of the 53-page report to whom we need to keep sending letters. The fight for Rusty Nelson, Kelly Ford, and others has only begun.
