-Caveat Lector- The Austin, Texas media is giving sensational coverage to the following stories. From the Channel 7 website: WIMBERLEY TEENS IN CUSTODY AFTER ALLEGED PLOT A state district judge has ordered four junior high students held without bond following allegations that they were plotting an attack on their school in Wimberley with homemade bombs. State District Judge Howard Warner ruled Monday that the 14-year-olds, all eighth-graders at Wimberley's Danforth Junior High School, should remain in custody until another hearing in 10 days. Neither the parents nor their attorneys could answer reporters' questions after the hearing because Warner issued a gag order on all involved in the case. He also closed the proceedings to the media. On Friday, officers picked the suspects up at school after students and teachers reported overhearing the eighth graders discussing a suspected plan to kill classmates and faculty members. They are being held on juvenile charges of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit arson and conspiracy to manufacture explosives. Police initially held a fifth boy but released him. Authorities said a search of the boys' homes yielded gunpowder, crude explosive devices and computer disks with bomb-building information, some of it downloaded from the Internet. One of the boys' mothers has said the explosives police found were no more than "a firecracker emptied into a pill container." But after the deaths of 14 students and a teacher at a high school in Littleton, Colo., last week, few seem interested in dismissing the case as kids' play. THREATS SPREAD TO MORE TEXAS SCHOOLS Two Round Rock High School students are suspected of posting a Web site that encourages classmates to blow up the school. A student at Martin Junior High in Austin is accused of threatening to shoot a teacher and some other students, and in Elgin, a teacher says he heard two freshmen talking about blowing up the school. School disciplinary action has been taken in all the cases, but no police charges have been filed. In Round Rock, administrators suspended the boys from classes and the principal has recommended they attend the district's alternative school for three days.
