The agency overseeing the redevelopment of the site, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, or LMDC says the first cornerstone of what will become the tallest building in the world will be laid down in just one year's time. The Freedom Tower, as it will be called, incorporates a spire that reaches a height of 1776 feet (541 meters) and LMDC say the number 1776 represents the year the United States gained independence from Britain. And architect Daniel Libeskind says he wants it to "restore the spiritual peak to the city." But developer Larry Silverstein, who owns the lease to the site, has employed a different architect to design the Freedom Tower. LMDC say that the design will ensure that each year on September 11th, one public space in the memorial area will receive uninterrupted sunlight between the times of 8:46 a.m., when the first tower was hit, and 10:28 a.m., when the second tower fell. So to number-crunching the 16 acre Ground Zero site of which 4.7 acres will be devoted to a memorial to the dead. OK, a reference number for the Skull that is of the place of Skulls, called Calvary outside the walls of Jerusalem, is 322. Whereas the thigh bone, the femur, represents the Cross Bones and have the reference number 17 x 17 at 289 because the average length of the male thigh bone is 17 inches. Thus the number for the Skull and Cross Bones the pirates flag of no mercy, and death to all on board, is 322 + 289 = 611. So I can contrive the 4.7 acres but I need an extra 18 square feet for the 9.11 memorial area, and this is equivalent to the Skull at 32.2 x 32.2 x 32.2 x the Cross Bones 17 x 1.7 and /Pi and /1.5 which is some 204,750 square or 4.70041 acres. Thus the 9.11 memorial area of Ground Zero will be filled with more skulls than thigh bones according to metaphysical number-speak Or I can contrive the reference numbers for the Ground Zero 9.11 memorial area of 4.7 acres, but I need an extra 43 square feet, so the area is increased to 204,775 square feet at 4.7.0098 acres. And the Skull and Cross Bones number at 0.611 x 0.611 x 0.611 x the Martian year at 686.980 days x 3/100 is 4.70098 acres. So the 9.11 memorial area of Ground Zero is filled with Skull and Cross Bones thanks to Mars, the god of War and Terrorism. And for my third number contrivance I need an extra 58 square feet to add to the 11.3 acres that will surround the 9.11 memorial area, so 11.30 acres at 492,228 square feet is increased to 492,286 square feet and /Pi is equivalent to the Skull and Cross Bones number 6.11 x 6.11 x 6.11 x 686.980 days,the orbit period of the planet Mars around the Sun. So a rather similar exercise of contrivance to that for the 9.11 memorial areamentioned in the previous paragraphfor the reader to consider. So to the would be Freedom Tower at a height of 1776 feet (541 meters). So Freedom Tower at 1034 Ancient Egyptian cubits is the Bloody Tower that stands in Ground Zero, and casts its shadow over the 9.11 memorial area. It's a matter of the commitment to a moral belief system which binds people together. If someone converts out, a blood sample is not the way back into the community. The ancestry part is recognized with the idea that grandparents, parents, etc. have passed on certain patterns of moral beliefs and their origins and even if one is not active in the community, the pattern has been somehow passed on. Whether Jewish or not, we all tend to trust people who say their thinking is similar to one's own. Jews trust those who say they think like Jews. Jew haters trust other Jew haters. Doctors trust other doctors who are part of their group. Osteopaths trust other osteopaths. Teachers have a commonality with other teachers. And so on. Then you hear from one of the pilots. "Welcome aboard. This is Joe, your flight captain. We're cruising at such-and-such thousand feet, at such-and-such miles per hour. The skies are clear and we expect smooth sailing. And oh, by the way--I'm unarmed. And the co-pilot is unarmed. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight." No sane pilot would announce that the residents of the cockpit are easy pickings. But if such an in-flight admission were indeed made on an American jumbo jet in the America of September 11, 2003, would any stray terrorists among the passengers learn anything they don't already know? Here's the problem. Two years after the 911 attacks--almost a year after Congress authorized a broad program to arm commercials pilots--the Transportation Security Administration is dragging its feet, making it almost impossible for pilots to defend themselves against lethal force with lethal force of their own. The TSA prefers air marshals to handle the last-line-of-defense type thing. Which is fine, so long as the bad guys pick a plane with an air marshal, and the air marshal succeeds in overpowering the bad guys when the bad guys make their move. Back when Congress was debating whether pilots should or should not be in a position to shoot at terrorists who breach the cockpit, some persons wondered whether pilots could be trusted with so dangerous an object as a gun. Perhaps instead of steering the plane the pilots would accidentally shoot up the instrument panel or something. At the time, Transportation Committee Chairman Don Young observed that "armed F-16s are prepared to shoot down any commercial jet that is hijacked by terrorists [W]e must allow trained and qualified pilots to serve as the last line of defense against such a potential disaster." Even Senator Barbara Boxer, normally in favor of victim disarmament, stressed the obvious. She asked us to imagine, should another 911-style attack occur, "how the survivors of all those passengers and crew will feel if we failed to allow pilots to have guns to defend the plane and an American flight was brought down by the American military." Pilots and passengers won the congressional battle over authorizing pilot self-defense. But the agency charged with the implementation isn't implementing. The TSA is actively deterring pilots from applying for arms training. In pursuit of its obstructionist agenda, TSA is: Allocating, reluctantly, only miniscule funds to the urgent task of training pilots. The agency is much more worried about training and mis-training the tens of thousands of airport security personnel charged with patting down grandmothers and ten-year-olds. Arbitrarily relocating class sites to make life harder for instructors now training pilots. "No sooner had the first class of armed pilots graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia," report Dave Kopel and David Petteys, "than the TSA announced the program would be relocated to Artesia, New Mexico. Experienced instructors in Georgia have the option of quitting their jobs, or moving their families to a remote town which is 186 miles by car from Lubbock, Texas, the nearest major city." Subjecting applicants to a seemingly endless barrage of checks and tests. As Captain Denny Breslin, a spokesman for the Allied Pilots Association, has pointed out: "The TSA has forced the [Federal Flight Deck Officer Program] to conform to its own bureaucratic image of a weak, perfunctory program in reluctant compliance with a law they did not like in the first place. [T]he TSA has TSA has made the program so onerous for pilots with ludicrous levels of background and psychological testing that it is obvious they are trying to intentionally discourage participation." So today, two years after 911, less than 150 pilots are qualified to bear arms in the cockpit. It's as if the terrorists have found a way to infiltrate the Transportation Security Administration. Nearly 80 percent of the world's rough and polished diamonds move through the hands of Belgian gem traders like Weingarten, a dealer who wears the thick beard and black suit of the Hasidim. This is very rare stone, he says, almost to himself, in thickly accented English. Yellow diamonds of this color are very hard to find. It is probably worth 10, maybe 15 thousand dollars. A second company, in Boston, has perfected a completely different process for making near-flawless diamonds and plans to begin marketing them by year's end. This sudden arrival of mass-produced gems threatens to alter the public's perception of diamonds - and to transform the $7 billion industry. More intriguing, it opens the door to the development of diamond-based semiconductors. Diamond, it turns out, is a geek's best friend. Not only is it the hardest substance known, it also has the highest thermal conductivity - tremendous heat can pass through it without causing damage. Today's speedy microprocessors run hot - at upwards of 200 degrees Fahrenheit. In fact, they can't go much faster without failing. Diamond microchips, on the other hand, could handle much higher temperatures, allowing them to run at speeds that would liquefy ordinary silicon. But manufacturers have been loath even to consider using the precious material, because it has never been possible to produce large diamond wafers affordably. With the arrival of Gemesis, the Florida-based company, and Apollo Diamond, in Boston, that is changing. Before anyone reinvents the chip industry, they'll have to prove they can produce large volumes of cheap diamonds. Beyond Gemesis and Apollo, one company is convinced there's something real here: De Beers Diamond Trading Company. But the sudden appearance of multicarat, gem-quality synthetics has sent De Beers scrambling.
