PUBLIC DOESN'T BELIEVE KEN STARR ABOUT DEATH OF FOSTER
AIM press release

Former Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr has said in recent TV
appearances that all questions about the death of Deputy White
House Counsel Vincent W. Foster, Jr. were laid to rest by his
investigation, but a nationwide Zogby poll in January found that
56 percent of 1,078 adults disagree with him. They believe there
are unanswered questions that the media should press Starr to
answer. Only 27 percent believe that the media should accept his
claim that all questions have been answered.

Although no major U.S. media have questioned Starr's conclusion
that Foster shot himself at a small park on the Virginia side of
the Potomac in July 1993, only 25 percent of the respondents
accepted that finding. One-third disagreed and 42 percent were
not sure. Only 17 percent of the respondents knew that a
three-judge panel had ordered that 20 pages of critical comments
and evidence of a cover-up be attached to Starr's report.

These numbers indicate that doubts about the official line on
Foster's death are widespread and enduring, and that those who
accept Starr's claim that all questions have been answered are in
the minority.

What was asked:

Are you aware or not that a three judge panel ordered Starr to
attached 20 pages of critical comments and evidence of a cover-up
to his report on Vincent Foster's death?

In your opinion, should the media insist that Starr answer the
many critical questions that have been raised about this report,
or should they accept his claim that his report answered all the
questions?

According to Starr's report, Foster killed himself on the spot
where his body was found. Do you believe or disbelieve this
conclusion?

Most Do Not Believe Official Foster Death Finding

UTICA, N.Y. (Reuters/Zogby) - Most Americans do not believe that
former Clinton White House Deputy Council Vince Foster killed
himself on the spot where his body was found, a new Zogby America
poll reveals.

The survey conducted in January of 968 adults showed that 56.8%
of those who responded said they did not believe Foster killed
himself on the spot where his body was found, as was concluded in
a report former by Independent Prosecutor Kenneth Starr.

On July 20, 1993, Foster was found dead in a Virginia suburb, the
apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The death was
ruled a suicide, but rumors of a cover-up involving the Clinton
administration immediately surfaced, including charges of
inaccuracies and contradictions in the subsequent investigation.

Survey respondents who disbelieve the official explanation of
what transpired include 62.3% of the Republicans and 61.3% of the
Independent respondents. While more than half the Democrats
(53.2%) say they believe the official report, 46.8% say they
don't believe the incident happened as reported.

Majorities in all age groups and income groups and among men and
women do not believe the official version include

What we asked:

``According to (Independent Counsel) Kenneth Starr's report,
Vince Foster did in fact kill himself on the spot where his body
was found. Do you believe or disbelieve this conclusion?''
