Help I'm confused about these knife laws
Could anyone tell me what I am and not allowed to carry.
What is the definition of carry, i.e. on person, in bag etc
What is the law regarding lockknives, can I have one or not
Can I get done for having my spydierco knife on me ?

Thanks in advance

David

Oh dear, now you've asked for it. The law is that you
can't carry anything other than an ordinary pocket knife
with a blade length of maximum 3 inches without lawful
authority or reasonable excuse. An ordinary pocket
knife has been wittled down over the years to basically
a penknife, not a lock knife. What constitutes lawful
authority or reasonable excuse is a very long discussion.

Last year it was estimated that 20% of all hospital admins and
upto 45,000 deaths where caused due to legal drugs.(This is drug
interactions, people misusing legally prescribed drugs and over
the counter drugs). Think about this in context to illegal drugs.
I appreciate more prescription drugs are used, but compared to
car accidents this is a lot of people.

Drugs

E safer than heroin, I don't think so. E was developed as an
antipsycotic drug (eg to treat schizophrenics). It is not safe,
even the government can't get the warnings right. Drink lots of
water while you take it, its the overheating that kills you.
Whoops no it isn't is water overload or hyponatraemia that
does. Pure heroin is no more addictive or harmful than nicotine.
Its the rest of crap in both nicotine (as tobacco) and heroin
(just about anything) that causes harm.

If anyone would like a discussion about drugs or any questions
answers I'd be more than happy too.

E is not addictive like heroin is, that's the problem rather
than the harm a single dose can inflict.

It seems the police like to push the point about LETHAL
firearms, a car becomes lethal if you run some one over
with it. I very much doubt if my guns or for that matter
most on the list will ever be used in a lethal manner.

Anyone else out there think that the statement of controlling
'gun culture' is going to be an attack on practical shooting ?

That's a good point actually, I see they "accept in principle"
the idea of shooting organisations telling the HO what is okay
and isn't.

I think UKPSA is too well established to simply be ignored
completely though.

Just a quick note to say thanks for the info provided from all
on cybershooters. Once again I have found you all an invaluable
source of info. If we can keep this up perhaps we can save
shooting in this country!

CS: Legal-S1 Shotguns

2000-07-26 Thread David Rovardi

From: "David Rovardi", [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks for the help and comments so far.

I typed yesterdays e-mail in a bit of a hurry.
Just to give you some further information, the range
in question is an indoor range, not passed for slug (we
use SG to minimize damage to lintex). When the MOD
inspected the range we were warned to exercise a duty
of care since shotgun can damage lintex faster that
bullets, it's this point the police have grabbed and
yes we feel that we are been blackmailed in order to
allow the police to inspect the range.
Further more the police have been down to other pieces
of land we use and told that these are unsuitable for
practical shotgun, but in the same breath said there
OK for clay pigeons. They have requested my FAC back
in 21 days (the letter arrived 6 days after the date
shown on top). We are trying to get a new piece of
land checked by a neighbouring police force and surprise
they can't inspect for another two week, I feel I am
been timed out. We have contacted the UKPSA on the
subject and are still waiting to hear from them, so if
there is a board member on the list could you please
contact me, quickly.
Any other comments or advise would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Again

I'm not sure the police opinion about the land is
relevant, if your club is UKPSA affiliated and your
club decides to hold a match there, you are within
the condition on your FAC.

If I were you I would just tell them that your club
is not the only place you use your shotgun, and if
they ask where you do use it, I would copy the
condition off your FAC back to them. If you
want to be polite you could tell them that you
have decided to shoot at Minsterley or wherever
until your own club gets sorted with the land.

There's no requirement you be a member of a club
to have a Section 1 shotgun. You could go down
to Minsterley or Harlow, pay the range fee and
shoot to your heart's content. They're UKPSA
affiliated clubs, it's their land, therefore you
are within the condition on your FAC.

If your condition is the same as mine, there's no
need to even be at a club, any UKPSA-sanctioned
match on any piece of land anywhere will do.

Steve.
