Having entered the first St.Nicholas steel plate shoot,
and eagerly looking forward to the second - now cancelled,
I would remark as follows.
The steel plate shoot seems to have been organised thru a
club member - John Reddington - who I know is very keen
on this kind of competition, as his name appears fairly
high up in the results on other like comps. I think he
must be pd off and embarassed by the whole thing.
The exact quote from his letter to myself and other would
be competitors is as follows:
The club have decided that "This is not the sort of
shooting we wish to be associated with" and have
subsequently withdrawn their support for the use
of the range. Obviously against the wishes of John
Reddington.
I cannot believe they did not learn the lessons of the
handgun ban. Divided we shall most certainly fall.
Perhaps the club would like to disassociate itself from
the L1200 plus that it banked from the first competition.
I can think of a suitable cause - the Gun Control
Network - they obviously think along the same lines.
In the end, we will all get the sport we deserve - no
sport at all.

What on Earth is so bad about steel plate events? I'm
just totally gobsmacked!
Steve.
