My issues concern porting a Linux application to cygwin. I read
http://cygwin.com/faq/ but I did not find answers. If there is another

packages. It also contains versions of packages that I no longer use.
What is the best procedure for cleaning up the local package
directory? I very much want to preserve cygwin's notion of what
packages (and what versions
thereof) I have installed. It would be
very tedious if I had to pick and choose all the packages I want,
again.

terminate when I double-click on a string of text displayed in an xterm.

The best window manager might be no window manager at all. If you
start XWin.exe with the command line option -multiwindow, then you
won't need a window manager. Instead, your X11 applications will all
appear in separate windows, managed by Microsoft Windows.
