After seeing an e-mail from Corinna in the cygwin patches list on the ssh problem on XP, I tried the 20050228 snapshot on an XP SP2 machine.
I am happy to report for the archives that Unison and OpenSSH work together with Cygwin on an XP SP2 machine with all of the current MS patches applied.
