Beitzah 035: When does food become designated for Shabbos?

alex lebovits sked:

If a person was koveah a fruit for Shabbes during the week, does it
become hukvah l'Shabbes immediately, and if he eats it now, it's
considered a seudas koveah even before Shabbos, or must Shabbes pass
for it to be considered so?

Thank you,
alex lebovits, toronto, canada

The Kollel replies:

Dear Alex,

Hello there and thanks for your nice question. This issue is
discussed in Mishnayos Ma'asros (4:2). According to Beis Shamai he
may eat before Shabbos, while according to Beis Hillel it is
obligated in Ma'asros immediately.

All the best.
Y. Landy
