Not sure how many people know this, but Wikimedia offers direct SQL access to most wikis (- private data, such as user options / passwords) for anyone who wants it. https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Tools/Help has information on how to sign up / log in and access the data. We also are around on #wikimedia-labs on Freenode to help :)
It also offers a web environment for people who want to build visualizations / other tools. It's pretty neat and well supported!
