The short answer is yes, if you're using CE 1.20 or newer.  You'll need
to make some small changes to your app .cfg script to use the "Link
Arbiter Daemon" - some details here:

So long as each application opens "compatible Engines" - that is,
Engines that either have the exact same Server, or an Engine that
doesn't require a Server (i.e., only contain 'local' codecs), you'll be
okay.

        Just a quick question... we have 2 teams working on different
bits of our product. One team needs one codec inside a CE server and
another team needs a different one. It would make development much
easier if the client apps were different executables since the two teams
are many thousands of miles apart.

         

        Q: Is it possible for 2 different CE client executables to use
different codecs inside the same codec server, or indeed different
servers with one codec in each? If so, does the CE serialise calls to
the different codecs/servers?
