It looks like my Lenovo Yoga 13 suffers from a similar issue too. I see
the issue on both Wheezy and Jessie installer CDs and using both text
mode and graphical mode installers.

Right. We don't use the block device names in the configuration of the
installed system and we shouldn't use them here (not primarily, anyway).
