I have the same problem.
Setting udev in debug mode (/etc/udev/udev.conf) you'll notice any problem.
At the first I discovered that I missed install dmsetup. But later I saw that
kpartx said that the multipath device was not there.
I think that the problem is that multipath is too slow
Keith Packard tried to fix it, but looks like it is still an issue - upgrading
cache from version 2.3 to 2.4.
I fixed this by:
mv /etc/fonts/cache.d /etc/fonts/cache.d.bak
apt-get install --reinstall fontconfig/unstable

Since caff doesn't seem to support proxies, and gpg does, I have
patched caff to have a keyserver-options bit in .caffrc and to pass
that to gpg. The patch is against the 0.4.8 tarball. I can patch the
development version as well if you like.
