While updating the German translation for your Debconf template (where
the only change was the removal of one superflouse space, where you
could have unfuzzied the translations
Here's a list of some of the packages which are removed when Tomboy
--and thus-- Gnome is removed:
* update-manager and update-notifier
* system-config-printer and hal-cups-utils (no more printing for you)
* network-manager-gnome (you like dealing with networking options
using a Gnome UI

Just to be sure you have the same issue as me: is the cause of your
problem the setting of $IFACE and $LOGICAL to the same $LOGICAL
interface name by ifupdown?
If so, this is my temporary workaround:
