Hi, FJP: the mpt* drivers are already on place but they are differnet from the drivers provided by LSI linux-kernel-2.6.16.16 offers version 3.03.07 but it seems that those drivers do not include support for some cards I prepared a diff [0] of latest kernel.org and LSI drivers (3.02.68).
