The latest version of davmail fails to execute from initscripts if
ENABLE_DAEMON is set to true. Appears to be because
/usr/share/java/davmail-4.9.0.2652.jar does not have execute permissions.
chmod +x to the target resolves the problem.
I can confirm this bug started to bite me only recently (~May-June), and
have been a long-time icedove user. Some unique aspects of my environment:
* I often send and receive S/MIME digitally signed messages (though
the crash isn't always when encountering a signed message)
* 3 accounts

Further investigation reveals that the issue is related to the new
ScriptedUpdates feature of ClamAV. If you turn off ScriptedUpdates,
the latest clamav-getfiles works on Lenny.
ScriptedUpdates is a new feature which apparently does not create 3 .cvd
files, but instead produces a daily .cld
