Since the upgrade to Gnome-Shell 3.8 landed in testing, a kill -9 no
longer fixes the problem, the screen will stay blank,with just the mouse
pointer after the kill.
A reboot is required to get things running smoothly again.

I tried removing all evolution folders and start fresh, I found that
evolution crashes when trying to connect to the Exchange server, as this
time it was in the setup wizard.
The server is currently an Exchange 2007 installation (to be upgraded to
2010 soon).
