Package: kernelshark
Version: 2.9.3+really2.2.0-2
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: kurt.kanzenb...@linutronix.de

Dear Maintainer,

kernelshark in Debian Bookworm segfaults on certain trace.dat files. Especially
traces taken with a lot events such as 'syscalls' cause this problem. It
basically makes kernelshark unusable.

The problem exists in kernelshark v2.2.0. It was reported and fixed upstream:

 - Bugreport Upstream: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217429
 - Patch:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/trace-cmd/kernel-shark.git/commit/?id=9f2097c9669fb7d5f72351343f34fb86649d1365

Please, consider updating kernelshark to v2.2.1. The diff between v2.2.0..v2.2.1
are only two bugfixes. And one of them fixes the observed segmentation fault.

Furthermore, please get the bugfix also into Debian stable.

Example:

|kurt@kurt tmp % kernelshark
|loading plugin "sched_events" from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/kernelshark/plugins/plugin-sched_events.so
|loading plugin "event_field_plot" from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/kernelshark/plugins/plugin-event_field_plot
|loading plugin "latency_plot" from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/kernelshark/plugins/plugin-latency_plot.so
|loading plugin "kvm_combo" from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/kernelshark/plugins/plugin-kvm_combo.so
|loading plugin "missed_events" from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/kernelshark/plugins/plugin-missed_events.so
|Loading "trace.dat"
|plugin "kvm_combo" failed to initialize on stream trace.dat
|[1] 32612 segmentation fault (core dumped) kernelshark

Thanks,
Kurt
